In the ’50s, Ferrari’s coachbuilder was the design firm Pininfarina (previously known as Pinin Farina), a well known name for vintage car enthusiasts. This Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta was originally debuted at the Geneva Motor Show back in 1956 and designed by previously mentioned Pininfarina. The Berlinetta introduced, to the automotive world its elongated wheelbase and the now-iconic Columbo 3.0-L V12 engine. However, after building several prototypes, it soon became clear to Pininfarina that it couldn’t keep up with the increased  workload and the demand for the luxury vehicle, and so production was passed over to Carrozzeria Boano.

Despite this, a handful of the unique Pininfarina prototypes survived, and the current one up for sale originally belonged to a close friend of Enzo Ferrari himself, Guido Cantelli. Unfortunately, Cantelli passed away in a tragic plane crash just months later, and his widow sold the Berlinetta back to Ferrari. These prototypes are considered among the most influential and special grand touring Ferraris of their era and seldom appear for public sale. However, this beautiful and elegant Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Prototipo (chassis 0435GT) is up for sale, giving vintage car lovers a chance to own a rare piece of automotive history!
