A 200 years old wine bottled for Napoleon Bonaparte was recently sold
At the recent annual Cape Fine & Rare Wine Auction (CFRWA) in South Africa a truly unique bottle of wine was sold. The 200-year-old wine, a Grand Constance 1821 which is a South African blend of red Muscadel and Pontac, is believed to have been bottled for no other than Napoleon Bonaparte. The wine with the incredible military provenience therefore sparked an intense bidding session at the auction and the final bid landed at approximately $30,000 US. Whoever that drinks this Grand Constance 1821 better enjoy it as, allegedly, a glass of Vine de Constance was Napoleon Bonaparte’s final request!
