An $18 million US 1964 Ferrari 250 LM

A vintage sports car from the mid-1960s, a rare Ferrari 250 LM with historic significance, is set to be auctioned later this month. This classic Ferrari, featuring an elegant red exterior, was initially crafted by the renowned designer Sergio Scaglietti in 1963. It entered a limited production run the following year, with only 32 units ever manufactured. The car's sleek and smooth design is the result of a multi-tube space frame construction, exuding a futuristic charm powered by a formidable 3-liter V-12 engine. Scaglietti had a close collaboration with the iconic Enzo Ferrari and he was known for his spontaneous approach to car design, often crafting vehicles without formal blueprints or sketches, instead relying on his instincts and expertise during the building process. In 1968, four years after its debut, the 1964 Ferrari 250 LM even participated in the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans race. Remarkably, this particular model retains its original engine and transaxle utilized during the famous race. Additionally, in 2021, Ferrari conducted a comprehensive restoration of the vehicle, preserving its authenticity and historical value. Enthusiasts and collectors eagerly await the auction by RM Sotheby's, scheduled for August 19 in Monterey and it is anticipated that this exceptional 1964 Ferrari 250 LM could fetch a price ranging between $18,000,000 and $20,000,000 USD at the event!
