Yes, these are some of the optimistic and inclusive words that can be found on current political campaigns. However, they can also be related to Balenciaga since the luxury fashion house has incorporated the political aesthetic for their Spring/Summer 2020 campaign.
When designing the collection, creative director (and founder of Vetements) Demna Gvasalia had working people on his mind. The collection, which include new menswear styles such as red button-ups, normcore trackpants, black blazers, featherblade earrings and denim jackets, is described as following: “reimagines dressing for work: power dressing, no matter what one does as a job”. To make his point, Gvasalia’s casting for the show included people from various careers and educational tract such as mechanical engineers, architects, and student as well as friends of him.
It is exciting when Balenciaga is presenting something new, because there is always that “surprise” element. This is not breaking news as many of you might already know (since the campaign was presented last year) but you can read this text as a remainder, so you don’t miss out on Balenciaga’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection!
