Canvas restoration gone wrong, again

8 years ago in Spain, an 80 year old woman tried to restore the church painting “Ecce Homo” and the result became a world sensation. The new version of the former Spanish classical painting, soon got the name “Monkey Jesus” which indicates, if you haven’t seen it yet, that she basically ruined it.

Well, here we go again. A private art collector went to a restorer in Valencia, to fresh up his 20th century copy picturing Virgin Mary, by Bartolomé Esteban Murillo. The art collector paid €1200 for the restoration, and we can fully understand why the collector got disappointed (to put it mildly) when he got it back. The painting is now totally unrecognisable! Do you agree?
