IKEA X Virgil Abloh

”It’s about elevating the anonymous, everydayicons that we use without noticing. When we put a doorstop on one of the legs of an ordinary chair we create something unexpected – an interruption.”

- Virgil Abloh, designer

Since the annunciation of the collaboration between one of the most recognisable Swedish brands and one of the most influential designers today, there has been a huge hype of what the outcome would look like.

The working process with the collection, started when IKEA and the director of men’s wear at Louis Vuitton and Off-White creator, Virgil Abloh, began to explore ideas that shape one’s first home. What kind of design, practical needs and emotional ambitions that makes a statement at home was the main focus.

The collection of 15 pieces consists of a range of fashion-forward homewares that cater towards fluid and contemporary living, including a daybed, table, chair, mirror, lighting, bed textiles, cabinet and accessories.

The demand for this collection is giant, and the wait will finally be over on November first,  when IKEA and Virgil Abloh's limited collection: MARKERAD arrives.
