Most expensive car on auction - Ferrari 250 GTO

The most expensive car to ever be sold at auction is a 1962 Ferrari GTO which was sold for more than 40 million dollars at RM Sotheby's. The car was testdriven by Formula - 1 world champion Phil Hill, ahead of the Targa Florio race in 1962. A few years later the car, with chassinumber 3413, won the Italian GT.

The car has been highly wanted due to the design and history. Of course it can not compete with todays technology but the design and iconic status makes it priceless. It was only made in 39 exes, and this one was actually previous owned by none other than jeweler Gianna Bulgari.
