This year has been great for harvesting grapes, both in terms of quality and quantity, but champagne makers have had to adapt to the decreasing demand due to the covid pandemi and has therefore been forced to throw away a lot of the harvest to keep the prices at the same level. How sad, right?

However, more uplifting news is that Veuve Clicquot is about to offer its 2012 vintage, La Grande Dame, in a new look this month. Japanese avant garde artist Yayoi Kasama and the French champagne house have collaborated and come up with this new limited edition which is adorned with Kusama’s signature polka dots rearranged as champagne bubbles. The joyful interpretation of the vintage champagne also has a flower motif on the case which brings our minds to her ‘Flowers that Bloom at Midnight’ series.

The limited edition gift boxes come with a price of $195 USD, but furthermore, there are also a limited number of floral sculptures made by Kusama. The sculptures fit a magnum bottle of Grande Dame and will cost $36,000 USD. Well, that is quite a way to enjoy Veuve Clicquot’s La Grande Dame to say the least!
