In the same way as champagne has to come from the region Champagne in France for it to be called champagne, the same goes for cognac. After this little reminder, yet as important for those of you who didn’t know that, we move on to news from one of the world’s finest cognac makers. We are talking about Hennessy X.O. that for its 150th anniversary, has partnered up with the world renowned architect Frank Gehry to design a limited-edition bottle.

The now 91 year old Canadian-American architect is the man behind designs such as the Guggenheim in Bilbao, Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, and The Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris. Hennessy’s history and birthplace worked as inspiration for Gehry as the decanter is fused with gold and glass, which is a way to symbolize the surface of the Charente River (which is the river running through the legendary Maison) flowing over rocks. As a result of that, the golden finish catches the light and the translucent glass creates an illusion of a splash of water around the decanter. Well, this really is an upjacked way to enjoy an elegant and absolutely exquisite cognac with all your senses.

The bottle numbered with Gehry’s signature will be limited to a number of 150 coming with a price of $17 000 USD, so we can only dream of putting our hands on it but we still need to say thank you Hennessy X.O. and Frank Gehry for this fantastic collaboration!
