We can now proudly present an exciting Official Roses and Care of Carl partnership that features a series of articles where we have put our own touch to Care of Carl Magazine’s articles that are written in Swedish. The great content that Care of Carl Magazine provides is seen through our lens at Official Roses and the result is a fusion of our worlds. We hope you find this series of articles interesting and that you enjoy this collaboration as much as we have done during the process.

Wax-on, don’t wax-off

Although the headline (purposely) alludes to Mr. Miyagi’s quote, this is not an article about Karate Kid, but rather for waxing your stylish Barbour jacket. Many of us just ignore when we see shifts in color on our jacket, that the jacket gets dry or that water penetrates the fabric, all which are indications that suggest that the jacket needs a new layer of wax. To keep the protection and luster of your Barbour jacket you should wax your jacket every two years (depending on the usage of course, more frequently or less) according to the official Barbour jackets experts that Care of Carl Magazine has interviewed. One option is to obviously submit the jacket for waxing, however you can also do it yourself and it doesn’t need to take up more than an hour of your precious time. So, we hope that our dedicated and craftsmanlike readers will find this four-step “how to wax your own Barbour jacket” guide helpful!

Care of Carl

  1. Heat up the jacket by using a hairdryer or put the jacket in a heating cabinet.

  2. Heat up the wax and let it stay in the can in a water bath.

  3. Iron the melted wax on the jacket with a sponge and get it into the fabric

  4. After a short while, dry away the leftover from the wax that hasn’t stuck to the fibres with a piece of fabric.
