Two rare Mercedes-Benz CLK GTRs are up for auction

RM Sotheby's is hosting a significant auction featuring a 1999 CLK GTR Coupe and a 2002 CLK GTR Roadster, valued at $22,000,000 USD. These vehicles showcase Mercedes-Benz's dominance in the GT1 racing class. The 1999 CLK GTR Coupe, one of 20 ever made, achieved consecutive FIA GT1 Championships, contributing to the series' end due to its dominance. Enthusiasts consider it part of the "GT1 Trinity" alongside the McLaren F1 and Porsche 911 GT1. The road-legal "Strassenversion" with a record-breaking price features a 6.9-liter V-12 engine, providing a race car experience with added comforts. The seventh Coupe in the auction, finished in Iridium Silver Metallic, is among the best-preserved CLK GTRs, with under 4,358 miles traveled. The 2002 CLK GTR Roadster, one of six produced, shares the V-12 engine with the Coupe but offers a unique open-air driving experience. The showcased Roadster, with chassis number 000034, is virtually new with just over 100 miles on the odometer, featuring a well-maintained silver exterior and black and gray leather interior. The auction aligns with HWA AG's 25th-anniversary celebrations, underscoring the CLK GTR's role in Mercedes-Benz's legacy. Taking place on November 17 in Las Vegas and online, the auction anticipates the 1999 CLK GTR Coupe to reach up to $9,000,000 USD and the 2002 Roadster up to $13,000,000 USD!
