Villa Les Cèdres, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, France

This incredible estate in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat at Côte d’Azur (often called the “Peninsula of Billionaires”), was built in 1830 and got a royal provenance in 1904 when Belgium's King Leopold II bought it. The 18 000 square foot palatial estate, which is an example of the Belle Epoque at its finest, is set on 35 acres of manicured gardens and features 14 bedrooms, an olympic-sized swimming pool, stables, ballroom and of course a spectacular view over Côte d’Azur.

In 2017, Villa Les Cédres  went up for sale as the most expensive house in the world for a price of $413 million US. However, when the seller - Italian beverage company Campari Group - sold the estate in 2019 they only got $221 million US.. It has now been revealed that the lucky owner of this royal palace, which is an example of the Belle Epoque at its finest, is Ukraine’s wealthiest man Rinat Ahkmetov. We don’t know if congratulations is the right word to use but what else is suiting for a bargain price of $221 million US?

We hope our ironic tone swipes through, but to end this text we do it in a serious way. Villa Les Cédres in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat is an absolutely mindblowing estate and for us mortals, it's fun to just dream of such a palace!
