Maradona's most iconic jersey is heading to auction

One of the most iconic sports-jerseys in history is about to go on auction at Sotheby’s. This jersey was worn by the one and only Diego Armando Maradona during Argentina’s 2-1 win against England in the quarterfinals of the 1986 World Cup. Maradona showed both his madness and brilliancy as he scored one of the most controversial goals ever, the “Hand of God”, as well as perhaps the greatest goal ever scored as he dribbled through the English players all by himself. After the game, the English player Steve Hodge switched shirts with Maradona and Hodge has for the past 20 years lent the legendary shirt to the National Football Museum in Manchester, England. From April 20th to May 4th, Maradona’s shirt with the number ten on the back will be up for auction at Sotheby’s and the historic shirt is expected to fetch around $5,2 million US!
